Identity
The Congregation of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family is a Religious Missionary Congregation of Patriarchal right. It was founded on 15th of August 1895 by Patriarch Elias Howayek , Mother Rosalie Nasr, and Sister Stephanie Kardouch, “for the glory of God and the salvation of souls”, as well as for the benefit of the Church and the country.
Our Congregation is deep-rooted in the Antioch SyriacMaronite Church and aims to go deeper in its eremitic and missionary spirituality. It is opened to the Universal Church, in an ecumenical spirit, embracing its mission, perceiving its needs, and mobilized for the service of “the edification of the Body of Christ”.

Our Congregation aims towards a life of union with God through prayer and work, for the glory of Almighty God and good of souls, in the service of the church, family and society, “with no distinction between creeds and nationalities”, “and according to the requirements of the time”.
The Charisma of our Congregation found expression in the following ways:
- Pastoral care by the Congregation in particular for families in all facets of their existence; through accompanying, support through listening, attentiveness, and prayer, in order to fulfil their calling and mission in a world full of challenges.
- Service of the Word and promoting growth in Christian life through religious education, prayer, spiritual retreats, missionary activities and service to the parish.
- Pedagogical service, especially among the poor and in isolated areas; and work with children, young boys and especially young girls, in the fields of social, humanitarian and Gospel values.
- Humanitarian and social services of all types: care for the sick and elderly and for orphans, with special concern for troubled families
Under the protection of the Holy Family, the daughters of the Holy Family live the spirituality of filiation through an act of faith rooted in that love of the Heavenly Father which motivates the Father Founder in response to God’s blessings, providence and contentment.
In response to the love of the Father, we live this filiation in continual thanksgiving and total abandonment to the will of the Holy One and in continual search for ways to please God by offering their lives as did the only Son of God as “a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God”, like the Son, in the Holy Spirit” (Rom 12:1).
The daughter of the Holy Family expresses her living faith as the daughter of God the father through sisterly live in the community and through sisterly love in the community and through ministry, desiring all things “for Jesus, with him and near him” (Letter of the Father Founder, year 1921).
